TYC has successfully conducted the workshop on Rethinking the Democratic Transition in Myanmar from October 9 to 10, 2019 in Taunggyi. There were 42 participants actively participated from 11 multi-ethnic political parties and 13 civil society organizations.
Mainly the two days’ workshop was aiming to understand the current political process, which was giving three different issues such as the role of CSOs and Parties in Myanmar democratization. Moreover, the role of CSOs and political parties corporation work.
In order to cover the democratic transition, Taunggyi Youth Center invited the panelists from different backgrounds to lead the discussion. In this discussion, the community issues were founded such as civil war and ethnic conflict, gender inequality, land issues and lack of trust among CSOs and political parties. In addition, ethnic minority political party was not able to participate in the peace process.
On the second day of the workshop, the participants were divided into two groups which were political parties and civil society organizations to discuss the political, social culture and legal issues based on the challenges they have been facing.
